Alstom Inspection Robotics works in interdisciplinary teams of highly qualified engineers and technicians specialised in mechanics, mechatronics and electronics under the leadership of CEO Ekkehard Zwicker and CTO Wolfgang Zesch.

Ekkehard Zwicker:
In 1994, Ekkehard Zwicker received an M.Sc. with honors in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Karlsruhe, and in 1998 gained a Ph.D. with honors from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. From 1998, he continued as a senior researcher at the Centre for Product Development at the ETH. In parallel, he founded and built up an ETH spinoff company focusing on digital product design. In 2008, he joined Alstom Inspection Robotics, where he focuses on defining and executing the strategy of the company.

Wolfgang Zesch:
Wolfgang Zesch received a B.Sc. in electrical engineering from Bregenz in 1988, an M.Sc. in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich in 1994, and a Ph.D. in microrobotics from the same institute in 1997. As a postdoc, in 1997 and 1998 he conducted projects in the handling of micro-parts and investigations into the adhesion of gecko feet at the University of California at Berkeley. From 1999 until 2006, he worked for Zuhlke Engineering AG as a mechatronics engineer, focusing on system design, sensors and actuators, and project management, while in parallel building up an optics group at Zuhlke. In 2007, he started Alstom Inspection Robotics, where he is now CTO.
